Welcome to Furlong Park School for Deaf Children

We are a Victorian government–funded, vibrant and inclusive learning community where every child is valued, supported and celebrated. Based in Sunshine North, we welcome students from across Melbourne and surrounding regions. While some families drive their children to school, most students travel on the free buses provided through Student Transport, ensuring safe and reliable access to learning each day.

At Furlong Park, we teach the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 just as mainstream schools do, using explicit teaching to ensure every lesson has clear intentions, strong modelling and guided practice. This calm and consistent approach helps students build confidence, independence and deep understanding across all learning areas.

We are proud to provide a high-quality bilingual education in Auslan and English. Language sits at the heart of everything we do. Our classrooms are rich in communication, and our community embraces and celebrates Deaf culture. We believe that Deaf children can achieve anything with the right guidance, encouragement and opportunities, and we work hard to create a genuine sense of belonging and identity for every student.

In 2024, we completed a $10 million redevelopment, creating modern, flexible and purpose-built classrooms designed specifically for Deaf learners. These spaces enhance visual communication, collaboration and creativity, and provide engaging, accessible environments where students can learn and thrive.
