Communication

At Furlong Park School for Deaf Children, clear and consistent communication is essential to supporting every student’s learning and wellbeing. We use a range of tools to keep families informed, engaged and connected with what is happening across the school.

Compass

Compass is our primary communication platform. Families use Compass to receive important updates, read school notices, access reports, record absences and stay informed about events and activities. The app provides a central place for key information, helping ensure communication between home and school is timely and reliable.
We encourage all parents and carers to download the Compass app so they can stay up to date with school information.

Seesaw

Seesaw is used as a digital learning journal where teachers share photos, videos, learning tasks and classroom updates. It gives families an authentic view of what their child is working on at school and helps celebrate progress throughout the year. Seesaw strengthens the partnership between school and home by making learning visible and accessible.

How We Communicate

To make communication clear and easy to understand, we have created the diagram below, which outlines the different ways we share information with our parent and carer community. It shows which platform is used for which type of message—such as day‑to‑day updates, learning celebrations, whole‑school announcements and attendance information—so families always know where to look.
