At Furlong Park School for Deaf Children, we value and celebrate our rich bilingual environment. We encourage families, carers and the wider community to learn Auslan, the natural language of the Australian Deaf community. Learning Auslan strengthens communication at home and school, promotes inclusion and helps families build closer connections with their children.

For families wishing to practise Auslan at home, there are a number of apps available that support everyday learning. Many of these include video demonstrations, sign categories and interactive features that help reinforce signing skills in a fun and accessible way.

Our NDIS Navigator can assist families who wish to bring more Auslan into the home. This includes exploring NDIS pathways that may fund Auslan lessons, Auslan-related supports or communication-focused programs that strengthen family language access.
