Early Education Program
The Early Education Program at Furlong Park provides a free, child‑focused, play‑based learning program for children aged 3–4 years who have a permanent, bilateral hearing loss of at least 40 dB across three frequencies. The program is delivered in both spoken English and Auslan (Australian Sign Language), with a strong focus on supporting each child’s overall development, particularly their language and communication skills. Guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), the program builds on each child’s strengths and recognises parents as their first and most important teachers. Our staff work closely with families to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
The five VEYLDF Learning Outcomes underpin all aspects of the program:
- Identity — Children have a strong sense of identity
- Wellbeing — Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
- Community — Children are connected with and contribute to their world
- Learning — Children are confident and involved learners
- Communication — Children are effective communicators
The program is offered across two age‑based groups:
- 3‑year‑old Caterpillar Program — Monday and Tuesday
- 4‑year‑old Butterfly Program — Thursday and Friday
The Early Education Program is not a kindergarten, so families are welcome to enrol their child in both this program and their local kinder. Please get in touch if you would like more information or wish to begin the enrolment process.
